In 2013 the City of Cleveland conducted environmental assessments in preparation for renovating the amenities in the park. During these assessments\, many contaminations were found in the soil. The City of Cleveland requested assistance from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and was awarded their services to clean up the site before the new park was built. In March of 2017\, a public forum was held at Pilgrim Church for community members to meet the EPA team and to learn about their plans for the clean-up. From the Fall of 2017 through the Fall of 2020\, the EPA worked to remove the contaminated soil and brought in clean dirt to cover where the soil had been removed.\nThis has been a long process for the community\, the Friends of (Amigos de) Clark Field made their original master plan for the park back in 2001. The arrival of the Towpath Trail and new entrance off of Clark Avenue were built since 2017. The image above is the plans for the renovations. Councilman Kerry McCormack invites you to learn more during a public meeting via Zoom on Thursday\, March 11th at 5:30pm. \n
