Dyngus Day

Dyngus Day marks the end of the somewhat restrictive observance of Lent with a let-loose party worthy of the joy of Easter. Over the decades, the Easter Monday holiday has become a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Polish and other Eastern European culture and heritage.

Dyngus Day, or Wet Monday (Polish Śmigus-Dingus or lany poniedziałek), is the name for Easter Monday. Historically a Polish tradition, Dyngus Day celebrates the end of the observance of Lent and the joy of Easter. Over the decades, Dyngus Day has become a wonderful holiday to celebrate Polish-American culture, cuisine, and traditions. Dyngus Day Cleveland also wants to celebrate Polka heritage at the event with their host DJ Kishka and a lineup of polka bands from 10am-9:30pm in Gordon Square. 2019 will mark the festival’s 9th anniversary in Cleveland.
