The Tremont West 2020 VISTA Project will be a great opportunity for a young professional interested in many aspects of community development. This opportunity will provide an individual exposure to working directly with the residents and businesses of Tremont. The year will include program development and implementation around housing, food access and increasing assets for individuals and businesses in Tremont.
| The Summer Associate will work alongside community members and Tremont West staff to support the Tremont neighborhood’s community gardens and public spaces, Tremont Farmers Market, housing counseling and employment outreach and Arts in August event series. The Summer Associate will be responsible for the coordination of community garden and vacant land/public greenspace reuse projects as well as the implementation of the Tremont Towpath Integration Plan. The Tremont Farmers Market serves over 1,000 people weekly. The Associate will assist the Market Manager with various tasks to ensure the market’s success including the promotion of using EBT and Produce Perks at the market. In addition, the Associate will work to assist with program outreach around housing counseling and employment programs. This outreach will include some door-knocking and one-on-one conversations. The Associate will also assist with our Arts in August series which offers free dance and theatre performances in Tremont’s Lincoln Park. The Associate will be responsible for the creation of an audience survey and distribution at the performances as well as social media marketing. |
