Pop-Up Shopping, Art Openings, Food & Drink Specials Friday Dec. 14 from 5 – 10 p.m.

Tis the season for shopping local as Walkabout Tremont hosts neighborhood-wide pop-up holiday shops this Friday, December 13, from 5 to 10 p.m., as well as multiple art openings, extended hours at art galleries and retail shops and a variety of holiday-themed food and drink specials at Tremont’s restaurants and bars. Visitors can also enjoy locally produced art in many shops, restaurants and bars. It’s the perfect time to do last-minute holiday shopping and check out some great art.

More than a dozen vendors set up shop across two neighboring venues: Tremont Public Works and Lava Lounge. The Tremont Public Works cafe features beer, wine and small plates by chefs Ricardo Sandoval and Anthony Vicente.

Destiny brought me to the hot enamel workshop of Ivan Kyrychenko in 2016. Michael Marefka—paintings

Marefka works almost exclusively in oils. His work is both an investigation of modern art history as well as his own experience. His paintings utilize a tapestry of techniques, both borrowed and invented, that reflect a mood saturated by nostalgia, camaraderie and romanticism.
