As you probably know by now, the material you place in the City’s blue bins is NOT being recycled – it is being dumped in the landfill. CLEAN Garbage Recycling, a grassroots, Tremont company was formed in response.  CLEAN Garbage Recycling has been collecting clean aluminum and steel cans at the Tremont Farmer’s Market since August and recycling it. This Tuesday is the last Market day.

In October, we will be placing clean aluminum collection bins in key locations in the neighborhood. These bins will be locked to prevent folks from tossing items other than clean aluminum into them. We are forming a recycling cooperative group – CGR Co-Op. CGR Co-Op members will be given a combination for the lock on the aluminum recycling bins. To sign up for CGR Co-Op, please send an email to [email protected]. We will let you know the locations of bins and the combination to the lock.

Also, we have secured a paper retriever for Tremont, which we expect to be in place by October 1st. It will be located in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church parking lot, in the gravel parking lot south of the church which can be accessed from Fairfield or West 11th. The following materials will be accepted:

  • Books (Coated/Uncoated, Hard/Soft Cover)
  • Envelopes (Hard, Windowed)
  • Folders
  • Hard White Inserts
  • Junk Mail
  • Magazines
  • Mixed Paper
  • Newspaper
  • Office Paper
  • Phone Books
  • Baled Cardboard
  • Boxboard Cuttings
  • Cardboard Filing Boxes
  • Cardboard Packaging
  • Cardboard Shipping Boxes
  • Cardboard Storage Boxes
  • Loose Cardboard
  • Tubes and Cores
  • Shredded paper (as long as it is in a plastic bag)

Thank you for recycling and stay tuned for more recycling opportunities! CGR Team
