Executive Artistic Director of Cleveland Public Theatre, Raymond Bobgan, is the curator of the performances.  Opening night will be Cleveland Public Theatre’s Student Theatre Enrichment Program performing an original play, The Myth of Me.  The Myth of Me showcases the ensemble work of 15 young artists who are currently navigating the balance between the worlds of childhood and adulthood. Join us to experience this unique piece of free outdoor theatre! On Saturday, August 6th at 7pm the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival will be performing The Learned Ladies, a satirical masterpiece as the last of Molière’s great plays, sees young Henriette in love, but not with the gentleman her mother and sister want her to marry. Will Henriette stay with her true love, or be forced to wed at the whim of her family?

The second weekend we celebrate the beautiful artistry of dance.  Inlet Dance Theatre will perform on Friday, August 13th at 7pm, which coincides with Walkabout Tremont, a monthly neighborhood art walk that occurs the 2nd Friday of each month from 5 to 9 pm all year long.  Inlet’s concert offerings will include a new work, “Bloom”, performed by the dancers in the Inlet Trainee & Apprentice Program created by former company member Nicole Kapantas who is now an Inlet teaching artist and emerging choreographer. The company dancers will be performing excerpts from Inlet’s repertory alongside a couple of current experiments–resetting contemporary modern dance choreography to classical music usually associated with ballet. Saturday, August 13th Verb Ballets, “Ohio Contemporary Ballet,” will perform at 7pm.  Anti/gone, by award-wining choreographer, Tommie-Waheed Evans return for one last time this summer. This contemporary ballet situates ancient archetypes between action and fate, bringing the story to life with an electrifying, original score by composer Greg Smith and costumes created by runway designer Philista Marie Mills.  If either of these dance performances get rained out, they will perform on Sunday, August 14th at 7 pm.

The third weekend starts on Friday, August 19th, which includes a performance by Church of Starry Wisdom, a retro-futuristic goth-classic rock band based in Akron, Ohio.  They sing songs of life, death, love, disdain, hope, despair, dissolution, evolution, order, and the chaos that crawls between. Everything is sacred. Nothing is sacred. The show starts at 7 pm. On Saturday, August 20th, Lincoln Park will set the stage for a fun evening spent with Papo Ruiz Y Dulzura De La Salsa.  Bring your dancing shoes!

The fourth and final weekend kicks off with David Hakim performing songs from the Middle East on Friday, August 26th at 7pm. The final performance of Arts in August will be presented with our friends of Arts Renaissance Tremont, which will be Cleveland Jazz Orchestra on Sunday, August 28th.  It is always a fun evening with Paul Ferguson and his friends.

We encourage you to bring your friends for free concerts in Lincoln Park.  Bring a picnic, order take-out from one of our Tremont businesses, you can find them all at www.ExperienceTremont.com.  You definitely want to bring a chair or a blanket to sit and remember you are in a park at dusk, so you might want to bring some bug spray too!

We would like to thank Ohio Arts Council, Mark Smith and Janet Rosel Smith, John and Karen Moss, Medical Mutual, DiGeronimo Companies, The Cleveland-Cliffs Foundation, The Bentley Group and Ted & Co. of Howard Hanna.
